This week we will be reading Fellowship Concerning the Urgent Need of the Vital Groups, Messages 14 and 15. This book is available for purchase from Living Stream Ministry. You can also read it online at ministrybooks.org.

Fellowship Concerning the Urgent Need of the Vital Groups Message 14 covers some vital points concerning the vital group practice. In order to carry out the God-ordained way, there is the need for training. There is a difference between the training and the church meetings. In the practice of the church life in the Lord’s recovery, we are very free. In the training we are willing to give up our freedom so that we can be perfected to be more useful to the Lord. In the vital groups, the first thing we need to learn is to pray. Second, we have to change our concept of thinking that people can be saved and brought into the church life in a quick way. We must realize that we probably will need more than two years to get a person saved, nourished, and growing up to such an extent that he would remain in the church life. Thirdly, we must learn to preach the gospel in a trained way, not in a way that is according to our disposition, character, and peculiar traits. Additionally, we need to attend the meetings of the church, especially the prayer meeting. In the meetings we need to learn to sense the atmosphere and taste of the meeting and exercise our spirit in the meetings.

Message 15 is another earnest talk concerning the practice of the vital groups. We need regeneration, transformation, and conformation to be a new creation. We need to be transformed not only in our daily life but also in our prayer in the meetings. We need to be transformed in our prayer, in the way we worship, and in our meeting life. We need to be transformed in everything. Five crucial points for our seeking that have been covered in the first 15 messages are: 1) seeking to be blended, 2) seeking to be filled with the Spirit inwardly and outwardly, 3) praying unceasingly by exercising our spirit to redeem the time, 4) not doing things in our own way but in the coordinated way, and 5) dealing with our disposition, character, and peculiar traits. May we all consider this fellowship seriously.
