God-ordained Way Reading Program—
Week of July 15, 2012

This week we will continue with The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups for the God-ordained way reading schedule for the churches in Anaheim, Cypress, and Orange. Detailed information including the full reading schedule is available at churchinanaheim.org/gowreading/.

This week we will be reading The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups, Chapters 11 and 12. This book is available for purchase from Living Stream Ministry. You can also read it online at ministrybooks.org. (Please note: Because the Introductory Word is counted as a chapter on ministrybooks.org, Chapters 11 and 12 are listed as chapters 12 and 13 there.)

The Training and Practice of the Vital Groups

The Training and the Practice of the Vital Groups Chapter 11 is on abiding in the Lord and walking according to the spirit to flow rivers of living water. We are Christians, and we must realize that a real Christian is a branch of Christ. Our status is that of a branch. As branches of Christ, we live by walking according to the spirit. Then spontaneously we flow by speaking. All the dear saints in the Lord’s recovery should be like this. We should not be complicated. We should make everything simple.

Message 12 shows us that a vital group should press on according to the apostle Paul’s prayer in 1 Thessalonians 1:3 concerning the work of faith, labor of love, and the endurance of hope. To be vital requires us to labor. To practice the vital groups, we must be vital to the extent that we are willing to labor in any way and at any cost. This requires us to endure. We need to know nothing but to labor with the full assurance that our labor will never be in vain. We should not say that we cannot do it. We can do it.

Quote from p. 116: “We all should say, ‘I am just a branch abiding in Christ and walking according to the spirit to flow Christ as rivers of living water.'”

Quote from p. 126: “Some may say that to be vital is impossible. However, we must say that it is not impossible. Everything is possible. No one has ever overcome Christ. Christ has overcome all His opposers, including us. Since this is the case, He can overcome everyone. We should simply go out with Him. We should go out in His name to let everyone whom we visit know that we are working for Jesus Christ. This will work.”
